UK Status Resident. Widely distributed and common throughout the British Isles. Montgomeryshire Status A few records coming from both the far west and far east of the county. Wingspan : M & F, 14-16mm. Confusion species C. betulicola, C. rufipennella and C. hemodactylella. |
Flight time & Voltinity
(Bivoltine)  Habitat Wherever the foodplant is found. Foodplant Alder. Lifestage data Leaf miner. Eggs laid on upperside of leaf. Larva first mines an irregular gallery which develops into a blotch, finally leaves the blotch, rolls the leaf longitudinally and feeds within. Pupates in a cocoon spun under the leaf. |
